GED Celebration
HIS Bridgebuilders held its annual end-of-year celebration in June for the GED graduates and all students who completed the academic school year.  Family, friends, and community volunteers attended to honor the 5 graduates, 4 Honor Society inductees, and 20 students.  Each participant received a certificate of recognition as they walked across the stage after their names were called.  Graduates were especially blessed as each one was presented with an engraved class ring that was graciously donated by the Balfour Company.

Names of Honor Society Inductees:  Melanie Mason, Gerard Ruiz, Christopher Thurman, and Lucy Rowe.

June Graduates: Kendra Murray, Myesha Hawkins

December Graduates: Angela Adams, Markethia Harris, Lucy Rowe

The guest speaker was the Reverend Ronnie Miller who traveled from Arkansas to be with us for the occasion.  He is the former GED instructor for BridgeBuilders and he truly understands the accomplishment of each student.  His message was powerful:  Getting your GED is not a stopping point; you still need to press forward.  The scripture reference was Genesis 11:31  “Terah took his son Abram, his daughter-in-law Sarai, and his grandson Lot and left Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan.  But they stopped instead at the village of Haran and settled there.”

When God commands you to go, don’t stop halfway.  Reach your destination! It is for each student to find out what that calling is, but the GED is not Canaan.
