GED Graduates In December, three students who participated in the Bridge Builder’s GED class marched across a stage to receive their hard-earned GED.  It was a day of celebration, thankfulness, and family. KeKee was a quiet student.  But it was obvious that “still waters run deep” and there was an incredible amount of potential in this young woman.  Several members of the staff got attached to KeKee and she really seemed to open up and become more confident.  She even volunteered to help her classmates and demonstrated on several occasions her desire to help others.  KeKee is currently attending El Centro’s Optical Tech program and hopes in the future to be able to give back to the community in the same way that she has been blessed. After many difficult obstacles in her life, Lucy has obtained her GED at the age of 53. She says “You are never too old to go back to school.” Lucy’s GED has been in the works for thirty years. But, she won't stop there. After graduating, Lucy enrolled in BridgeBuilders’ Optical Training class and graduated with perfect attendance. She has dreams of one day attending the University of Houston’s optician program as well. Angela is a responsible, hard-working wife and mother.  She attended GED class while still continuing her regular hours working at Kroger.  In her free time, Angela was very active in BridgeBuilders’ ministry and was often volunteering to help others.  She has such a positive attitude about life and a determination that keeps her striving to accomplish her goals.  Being a role model to her four children, Angela sets a standard that education is important and is a means to being successful in life.  In the fall of 2006, Angela will be enrolling in college to study education.  There is no doubt that she will continue to touch people’s lives and be a blessing to the community.
