Every time it rained, Miss Gay had to monitor eight buckets throughout her home that would quickly collect water from her leaky roof. This house, originally built in 1889, needed a miracle. The roof was in terrible condition, and local carpenters said to re-build the roof would take a miracle. In September, 2007 approximately 30 volunteers from various churches and businesses in the Clarksburg/Bridgeport area, re-framed and re-built Miss Gay's roof. Even the neighbors got involved in the project! Local churches donated funds for the project as well as local businesses donating materials, labor, a dumpster and free disposal! God even provided two professional roofers and a carpenter that gave of their time and talent so this project would be done just right. After the roof was complete, the very first day that it rained Miss Gay called and promptly informed us, "No buckets!" No longer would she have to continuously empty buckets in her house when it was raining outside. Then, in October, 25 volunteers showed up to paint the exterior of the house! All week, rain was predicted, but we knew this was the only weekend we had to paint before the winter cold would set in. NO RAIN! God truly did a miracle! |
