Summer Intern Program |
 |
| For the summer of 2005 BridgeBuilders welcomed six high school Ministry Associate Interns. This was the first summer that BridgeBuilders hired high school students rather than college students. The six students participated in a weekly Bible Study led by Coye Bouyer, Ministry Associate Team Leader. Throughout the summer, they were also exposed to different aspects of ministry. It was the goal of BridgeBuilders to offer the interns a hands-on view of full time city ministry. Many of them were surprised to know what day-to-day activities must take place in order to put on special events or even weekly Bible Studies. Raytosha, one of the interns, said, “I thought we were going to be preaching every day.” She quickly discovered that was not the case. Instead, the interns participated in activities such as Kids Alive, an elementary-aged Bible Study, three VBS events, two in South Dallas and one in East Plano, and they also lent helping hands at the H.I.S. BridgeBuilders Eye Clinic. At the end of the summer, all the interns gained new friendships and strengthened old friendships, learned about teamwork, and got a clearer perspective on ministry. For the BridgeBuilders staff, this inaugural summer of high school interns brought much new information to be used for future summers. This will be a great stepping-stone in bettering the BridgeBuilders Internship in the future! |
