Summer time at BridgeBuilders is fun-filled and action-packed!  Each summer is kicked off with the Global Day of Prayer.  This year Christians from 203 nations participated in this global movement of prayer and worship on Pentecost Sunday.  The goal of the Global Day of Prayer is to seek God's face in repentance and prayer for the transformation of our communities and nations.  Following this one-day event, the 90 Days of Blessing provides opportunities for believers across Dallas and beyond to unite in service projects and evangelistic outreaches.

Clean Sweep, an annual clean-up of the BonTon Community, kicked off early Saturday morning, June 14th. Hundreds of volunteers from churches across the Metroplex and basketball players from the Guaranty Bank Basketball Association joined hands in prayer and service.  Armed with trash bags, shovels, and Bibles they walked the streets of South Dallas picking up trash along the way! Neighborhoods were cleaned and hearts were changed through these demonstrations of Christ’s love.

On Saturday, August 11th, BridgeBuilders hosted the annual Evangelistic Block Party. Evangelism training was provided for all volunteers and then they went door-to-door in small groups sharing the gospel with all who would listen.  Along with door-to-door evangelism, young men (and some ladies) participated in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, and children played in bounce houses and heard a gospel presentation designed just for them.  There were plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones, and cotton candy for everyone.  By the end of the day we had seen 34 decisions for Christ.  Praise the Lord!

During the summer, teams of volunteers have worked long, hot hours in the construction of 6 Habitat for Humanity Homes. These homes (located on Rochester St. and Choice St.) are sponsored by Prestonwood Baptist, Concord Church, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Park Cities Baptist Church, Guaranty Bank and H.I.S. BridgeBuilders.  It is wonderful to see these new families moving into the community!

With the end of summer comes the beginning of another school year requiring school supplies and uniforms for all children. BridgeBuilders partnered with Concord Church on August 18th to provide four uniforms and a complete school supply pack for 99 participants of BridgeBuilders’ children’s ministry. Concord’s church members were extremely generous in meeting this pressing need for the families of BonTon.
