Blessings from Wal-Mart
H.I.S. BridgeBuilders appreciates the partnership with Wal-Mart Optical Laboratory. In September, the BridgeBuilders Optical Lab was given an enormous gift of thousands of pairs of eyeglass lens, valued at more than $300,000! The lens are being utilized for training purposes as well as positioned in actual glasses. Each day there are 35 to 40 patients treated by doctors from the University of Houston School of Optometry in the BridgeBuilders Eye Clinic. In 2005 more than 8000 pairs of glasses were given to those in need. This would not be possible without the generosity of corporations like Wal-Mart.
In addition, Wal-Mart Laboratory Trainer, John Whaley, presented BridgeBuilders a check for $1000. The national organization offers opportunities for individual sites to submit grant requests. Mr. Whaley has been such an encouragement and support to the ministry. He spoke to the last class about the optical business and then proceeded to hire six of the young men and women trained in the BridgeBuilders Laboratory under Tim Elinski, manager.
BridgeBuilders appreciates the continued support from the entire staff of Wal-Mart Optical Laboratory. |
