Kids Alive Lock-In and Christmas Parade

The first weekend of December, the Children's Directors for BridgeBuilders hosted the first Kids Alive lock-in in the Turner Courts Recreation Center. The evening began with pizza and soda and the kids iced their own cookies for dessert. Having the entire Rec center to themselves was fascinating to the children. Fifteen kids attended the event—10 girls and 5 boys. There was much laughter, running, playing and then came bedtime.

At 7am the next morning all the kids were up and ready for the adventure of the Neiman Marcus Adolphus Christmas Parade in downtown Dallas. It was a very cold morning, so all were very bundled and even carried extra blankets. The children spread their blankets in a great place on the parade route and were served hot chocolate, hot apple cider, muffins and donuts. The parade was full of the many characters with which the kids are very familiar. The children waved furiously in an attempt to gain the attention of each passing character. Plans are already being made for next year's field trip to the parade.

Kids Alive members were too excited to sit still and watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
