Sharon Story
The H.I.S. BridgeBuilders staff and family celebrates the homegoing of our beloved friend and sister, Sharon Emmert. After a 6-month battle with cancer it was our Lord’s will to bring Sharon into His wonderful presence. Though we greatly miss Sharon’s warm smile, tender heart and Christ-like love, we know we will see her again very soon. We praise God that He blessed us to serve with one of His choicest servants! We pray the Lord will raise up other laborers like Sharon to continue this work of mercy and reconciliation.
Below is an excerpt from her memorial service:
Following early retirement from Delta in late 2001, Sharon joined the staff of H.I.S. BridgeBuilders. She worked with Dallas Independent School District in the establishment of a GED training class in Turner Courts, which is still active. She also established a continuing education program for the residents with El Centro College.
Sharon was very instrumental in helping to establish the BridgeBuilders Eye Clinic in partnership with the University of Houston and the Optical training Lab, where residents of the city are trained for employment in the Optical Industry. In 2005, Sharon helped to establish the H.I.S. BridgeBuilders Dental Clinic in partnership with Serving Him Ministries. 60 Days ago, the Dental Lab began its' first class training residents to make dentures.
In addition to employment training classes with the Optical and Dental labs, Sharon worked to establish a Computer training class for the residents of the Community as well. Out of this training, an opportunity for residents to train in the tool and die business has developed through a partnership in Garland.
Sharon had an incredible network of community organizations wherein thousands have been served and given the hope of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of lives have been changed through Sharon’s ministry and many have obtained full time jobs. |
