With the Christmas season officially in full force, we begin to plan for Christmas Day in Bonton. The annual celebration is one of the favorite events of the year, for both the community members and the friends of BridgeBuilders. As part of our continued work and ministry in Bonton, the Christmas event serves as a great opportunity for relational connection, which is vital as we work to help restore people’s relationship with God, themselves, others, and creation.
SO WHAT IS IT? Christmas Day in Bonton is an annual event, the afternoon of Christmas Day, that allows us to give to the community through food, fellowship, and fun. BridgeBuilders provides a communal meal, with opportunities to spend time with our friends in Bonton. After lunch, each kid is given a toy and a coat.
WHY DO WE DO IT? Dallas has the highest rate of children’s poverty in the United States, among cities with 1 million or more residents. As a result, this time of year many families cannot afford to provide Christmas gifts, a meal, or even basic needs. We go to Bonton every Christmas to help bring the love of Christ, in the form of a hot meal, and a children’s toy and coat.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Volunteer for the event, we need everything from food servers to table hosts. You can volunteer with your family, as well, to spend time serving together.
Maybe you’re not available Christmas day? That’s ok! We also need donations to help underwrite the event, new toys, and new or gently used children's coats.
